Karma-Shop owner,Villager,Butter

Karma

A small story which beautifully illustrates that what you sow, you reap. You will get the fruits as per your karma.
" Once upon a time there was a small time business man from a small village who used to sell butter in the nearby town. A big shop owner in the town was his regular customer.
The villager used to deliver every month the shop owner the required butter in 1 Kg. Blocks and in turn he used to get grocery items like sugar, pulses etc from the big shop owner.
Once the shop owner decided to weigh the butter and to his surprise every block of butter weighed 900 gms. instead of 1kg.
Next month when the villager came to supply  Butter, the shop owner was very angry at him and told to leave the shop, to this the villager replied him courteously " Sir, I am a very poor villager, I don't have enough money to even buy the required weights for weighing the butter, I usually put the 1Kg sugar you give me on one side of Weighing scale and weigh butter on another side"
This simple story very beautifully illustrates that what we give to others comes back to us.

DONKEY-WELL-DIRT-SHAKE

LESSON FROM A DONKEYOne day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.
The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway;
it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.
They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.
He was astonished at what he saw.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.
The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.
Each of our troubles is a steppingstone.
We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!
Shake it off and take a step up.

True value

True value

A little boy went to his old grandpa and asked, "What's the value of life?"

The grandpa gave him one stone and said, "Find out the value of this stone, but don't sell it."

The boy took the stone to an Orange Seller and asked him what its cost would be.

The Orange Seller saw the shiny stone and said, "You can take 12 oranges and give me the stone."

The boy apologized and said that the grandpa has asked him not to sell it.

He went ahead and found a vegetable seller.

"What could be the value of this stone?" he asked the vegetable seller.

The seller saw the shiny stone and said, "Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone."

The boy again apologized and said he can't sell it.

Further ahead, he went into a jewellery shop and asked the value of the stone.

The jeweler saw the stone under a lens and said, "I'll give you 1 million for this stone."

When the boy shook his head, the jeweler said, "Alright, alright, take 2 24karat gold necklaces, but give me the stone."

The boy explained that he can't sell the stone.

Further ahead, the boy saw a precious stone's shop and asked the seller the value of this stone.

When the precious stone's seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it.

Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and touched his head in front of the ruby. "From where did you bring this priceless ruby from?" he asked.

"Even if I sell the whole world, and my life, I won't
be able to purchase this priceless stone."

Stunned and confused, the boy returned to the grandpa and told him what had happened.

"Now tell me what is the value of life, grandpa?"

Grandpa said,

"The answers you got from the Orange Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler & the Precious Stone's Seller explain the value of our life...

You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but, people will value you based on their financial status, their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability.

But don't fear, you will surely find someone who will discern your true value."

Respect yourself.

Truth of life

Truth of life

One night, just before the shopkeeper was about to close the shop, a dog came into the shop.

There was a bag in its mouth. The bag had a list of items to be bought and money. The shopkeeper took the money and kept the items in the bag.
Immediately, The dog picked up the bag of items and left.

The shopkeeper was surprised and went behind the dog to see who the owner was.
The dog waited at the bus stop. After sometime, a bus came and the dog got into the bus. As soon as the conductor came, it moved forward to show his neck belt which had money and the address as well. The conductor took the money and put the ticket in his neck belt again.
When it reached the destination, the dog went to the front and wagged his tail indicating that he wanted to get down. The moment the bus stopped, it got down. The shopkeeper was still following it.
The dog knocked on the door of a house with its legs. Its owner came from inside and beat it with a stick.

The shocked shopkeeper asked him "why are you beating the dog?", to which the owner replied, "he disturbed my sleep. It could have taken the keys with it."

This is the truth of life. There is no end to the expectations people have from you. The moment you go wrong, they start pointing at our mistakes. All the good done in the past is forgotten. Any small mistake committed then gets magnified. This is the nature of this material world.!!

A Small Bowl Of Water And A Needle-Thiruvalluvar

A Small Bowl Of Water And A Needle

The person who wrote the great South Indian scripture, the Thirukkural, is Thiruvalluvar He had a wife named Vaasuki. Every day when he sat to eat, along with a plate and glass, his wife placed a small bowl of water and a needle on the table. And every day when he finished the food, he would not have touched the needle or the bowl of water. Still, she used to put them there simply because he had asked her to. She never questioned it, because she respected him and knew he must have some good reason. She simply thought, "He asked me to do that and I am doing it. That's all."

But the time came, after many years of married life, that Vaasuki was lying on her deathbed. Thiruvalluvar, seeing his wife's sad face, questioned her, "Vaasuki, after all these years living with me and knowing the philosophy of life and death, why do you look like this? Are you afraid of dying?"

She replied, "No. Having lived with you, I understand what death means. I am not afraid of dying, but still I have an unanswered question in my mind. You know, every day when you ate I put a bowl of water and a needle on the table. I never saw you use them. I'm just wondering what they were for."

Suppose I had spilled a grain of food," he explained. "I could have just pricked it with the needle, washed it in the water, and put it back on the plate to eat." If even one piece of rice had fallen, he would have taken it, washed it, and eaten it. That shows how respectful he was of food.

There are two things to be noted here. Vaasuki had never during their whole married life questioned her husband's request; and in all his life he had never spilled even one grain of rice.

THINK DIFFERENT-Car-Tyre

THINK DIFFERENT

An engineer in a car manufacturing company designs a world class car.

While trying to bring out the car from the manufacturing area to the showroom, they realised that the car is few inches taller than the entrance.

The engineer felt bad that he didn't notice this one before creating the car.

The painter said that they can bring out the car and there will be a few scratches on top of the car which could be touched up later.

The engineer said that they can break the entrance, take the car out, and later re-do it.

A Watchman was observing & remarked "The car is only a few inches taller than the entrance so, Simply release the air in the tyre, the height of the car will sink and can be easily taken out.

LESSON

Don't see problems from an expert's point of view.

There is always a layman's outlook that gives an alternate solution.

Life issues are also same. Release some air (ego) and adjust the height.

Think Simple. Live Humble.

Character is a complex phenomenon.

Better person

Can u judge who is the better person out of these 3 ?

Mr A - He had friendship with bad politicians, consults astrologers, two wives, chain smoker, drinks eight to 10 times a day.

Mr B - He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps till noon, used opium in college & drinks whiskey every evening.

Mr C - He is a decorated war hero, a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink  and never cheated on his wife.

You would say Mr.C

right?

But..
Mr. A was Franklin Roosevelt! ( 32nd President of the USA)

Mr. B was Winston Churchill!! (Former British Prime Minister)

Mr C Was ADOLF HITLER!!!

Strange but true..
Its risky to judge anyone by his habits !
Character is a complex phenomenon.

So every person in your life is important, don't judge them, accept them.
Three beautiful thoughts

1. None can destroy iron, but its own rust can!
Likewise, none can destroy a person, but his own mindset can.

2. Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going, because a straight line even in an E.C.G. means we are not alive.

3. The same Boiling Water that hardens the egg, Will Soften the Potato!
It depends upon Individual's reaction To stressful circumstances!

Enjoy the journey called Life

EACH GIVES WHAT HE HAS

Back in the days when Germany was divided, a huge wall separated East and West Berlin.

One day, some people in East Berlin took a truck load of garbage and dumped it on the West Berlin side.

The people of West Berlin could have done the same thing, but they didn't. Instead they took a truck load of canned goods, bread, milk and other provisions, and neatly stacked it on the East Berlin side.

On top of this stack they placed the sign:

 “EACH GIVES WHAT HE HAS"

How very true! You can only give what you have.

What do you have inside of you? Is it hate or love?
Violence or peace?
Death or life?
capacity to build or capacity to destroy?

What have you acquired over the years?

"EACH GIVES WHAT HE HAS"

Think about it!

Not all that glitters are gold

BE YOURSELF

Note: A guy met one of his school mates several years after school and he could not believe his eyes; his friend was driving one of the latest sleek Mercedes Benz cars. He went home feeling awful and very disappointed in himself. He thought he was a failure. What he didn't know was that his friend was a driver and had been sent on errand with his boss's car!

Rosemary nagged her husband always for not being romantic. She accused him for not getting down to open the car door for her as her friend Jane's husband did when he dropped her off at work. What Rosemary didn't know was that Jane's husband's car had a faulty door that could only be opened from the outside!

Simpson's wife went to visit one of her long time friends and was very troubled for seeing the 3 lovely kids of her friend playing around. Her problem was that she had only one child and have been struggling to conceive for the past five years. What she didn't know was that one of those kids who was the biological child of her friend had sickle cell and had just a year to live; the other two are adopted!

Life does not have a universal measuring tool; so create yours and use it.
Looking at people and comparing yourself with them will not make you better but bitter. If you know the sort of load the chameleon carries, you wouldn't ask why it takes those gentle strides. So, enjoy what you have and be grateful for it. Pass to everyone on your list to learn from other mistake! Not all that glitters are gold, live and be happy with what you have, everyone is going through one thing or the other. Food for thought!!

Cockroach Theory-Sundar Pichai

Cockroach Theory

A beautiful speech by Sundar Pichai - an IIT-MIT Alumnus :
The cockroach theory for self development

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady.

She started screaming out of fear.

With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.

Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama.

The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.

In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.

The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt.

When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behavior?

If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?

He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.

It is not the cockroach, but the inability of those people to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach, that disturbed the ladies.

I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.

Lessons learnt from the story:

I understood, I should not react in life.
I should always respond.

The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.

You will find great relief , if you are disturbed.

You will find great relief , if you are disturbed.

Once Buddha was traveling with a few of his followers.

While they were passing a lake, Buddha told one of his disciples,
"I am thirsty.
Do get me some water from the lake."

The disciple walked up to the lake.

At that moment,
a bullock cart started crossing through the lake.
As a result,
The water became very muddy and turbid.

The disciple thought,
"How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink?"

So he came back and told Buddha,
"The water in there is very muddy.
I don't think it is fit to drink."

After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back
to the lake.

The disciple went back,
and found that the water was still muddy.

He returned and informed Buddha about the same.

After sometime,
again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back.

This time, the disciple found the mud had settled down, and the water was clean and clear.

So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.

Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said,
"See what you did to make the water clean.
You let it be,
and the mud settled down on its own,
and you have clear water."

Your mind is like that too ! When it is disturbed,
just let it be.
Give it a little time.
It will settle down on its own.

You don't have to put in any effort to calm it down.
It will happen.
It is effortless."

Having 'Peace of Mind' is not a strenuous job,
it is an effortless process. So keep your mind cool and have a great life ahead...

Leteral and logical thinking

Merchant & Moneylender

Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a Merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of Money to the Moneylender. 💰

The moneylender, who was Old and Ugly, fancied the merchant’s Beautiful Daughter .So he proposed a bargain.

He said he would forgo the merchant’s debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.

The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty                                                                                        bag. ⚫⚪

The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag.
If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven.
If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven.
But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden.
As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles.
As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag.

He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

What would you have done if you were the girl?

If you had to advise her, what would you have told her?

Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking.

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble.

Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.” Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one.

And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an Impossible situation into an Advantageous one.

*MORAL OF THE STORY*:
Most Complex problems do have a Solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a Different way.

Race

Race

8 boys were standing  on a track for racing.
Ready !
Steady !
Bang !

With sound of Pistol all boys started running.

Hardly  had they covered 10 to 15 steps,
1 boy slipped & fell.

He started crying due to pain.

When other 7 Boys heard him, all of them STOPPED running..

STOOD for a while,

turned BACK & RAN
towards him.

All the 7 Boys LIFTED the Boy,
pacified him,
joined hands together,
walked together &
reached WINNING Post.

Officials were shocked.

Many Eyes were
filled with tears.

It happened at Pune.

Race was conducted by
National Institute of
Mental Health...

All participants were
Mentally RETARDED.

What did they teach ?
Teamwork,
Humanity,
Sportsman spirit,
Love,
Care,
&
Equality..

We Surely can NEVER Do this,

because...

We have Brains....
We have Ego...
We have Attitude ....and we call them mentality retarded.

Role model

Role model

Interesting story which will help someone who preaches good things without following. Rama krishna paramahamsa used to deliver lectures on various topics. On one fine day a small boy accompanied by his mother visited the mutt with the intention to meet swamiji. Rama krishna called both of them and enquired about there whereabouts. They replied to all of his questions cautiously. Mother of that small boy told swamiji that her son eats plenty of sweets and chocolates daily and spoils his health. She requested swamiji to give best advice to him. Swamiji saw her worried face and requested her to come again on the next day. Both of them came back again and met swamiji. Rama krishna turned towards the boy and requested him reduce eating sweets. Boy asked him why he did not advice yesterday when mom asked the this question. Swamiji laughed at him and told that he also loved eating sweets which he stopped yesterday. So if i want to preach something to the world i should first follow it. Since i stopped eating sweets i have the right to give advice. Hearing this, boy felt happy and reduced eating sweets. So when you want to become a role model for others first you should follow ethics and principles of right living.

Position

Position

I attended a Party with a gathering of about 30 people and sat in the front row.
A Lady started distributing snacks from the back and unfortunately, it didn't get to us sitting at the front.
Another Lady started handing out Drinks, from the front. But by then I had already moved to the Back. So the drink didn't get to me.
I was irritated and stood up to leave.
But then I saw three ladies each with A Big Bowl of vegetable Manchurian dry. This time, I tried to be Wise by sitting at the Middle. One of the Ladies started the sharing from the Front, and the second Lady started distributing from the back. When they got to the middle where I was seated, it got over again!
Feeling frustrated, I bent my head, putting my Face in My Hands.
But then the third Lady tapped me and held out her Bowl.
I stretched out my Hand and guess what was in the Bowl?
Toothpicks !!!
Moral:
Don’t try to Position yourself in Life. If you are doing your best then good things will come to you automatically, sooner or later.
Otherwise You will Wrongfully position Yourself For Toothpicks Only!!!!

TOMATOES

TOMATOES!!!🍅🍅🍅

A teacher asked her students to bring some tomatoes in a plastic bag to school.
Each tomato was to be given the name of a person whom that child hates.
So, the number of tomatoes would be equal to the number of persons they hate.
On a pre-determined day, All the children brought their tomatoes well addressed.
Some had two, some had three and some had five, some even had 20 tomatoes in accordance with the number of people they hated. The teacher then told them they had to carry the tomatoes with them everywhere they go for two weeks.
As the days passed the children started to complain about the decay and smell of the tomatoes.
The students who had many tomatoes complained it was very heavy to carry and the smell was too much.
After a week, the teacher asked the students “How did you feel this week?”
The children complained of the awful smell and heavy weight of the tomatoes, especially those who carried several tomatoes.
The teacher said, “This is very similar to what you carry in your heart when you don’t like some people.
Hatred makes the heart unhealthy and you carry that hatred everywhere. If you can’t bear the smell of spoilt tomatoes for a week, imagine the impact of bitterness on your heart as you carry it daily.”
The heart is a beautiful garden that needs regular cleaning of unwanted weeds. Forgive those who have angered you.
This makes room for storing good things.
Get Better, Not Bitter!!!
